Refridgerators

If you're planning to buy a new refridgerator and you have a house that was built more than 20 years ago, then here's a piece of advice before you buy.
Refridgerators are bigger today than they used to be. It's hard to find one the size that they were 20 years ago. Some are taller, some are deeper, and some are both.
In many houses, there are cabinets built above the refridgerater. And if you're house isn't fairly new, then the cabinets were built to accommodate a smaller refridgerater. That means that a new fridge might not fit under those cabinets.
Measure how much space you have from the floor to the cabinets so you know what you can fit in there. If you get a fridge that's taller than that, you'll end up having to cut off the bottom of your cabinets to fit it in. This may even be worth doing for you.
